Fashion & Your Core Identity

Who Are You at Your Core as a Fashionista?

As a Black woman navigating the vibrant world of fashion, my journey began in a place that holds a special spot in my heart: the Gap. It was the summer before my senior year of high school, and little did I know that this experience would shape my style and identity in ways I never imagined. Working there, surrounded by a plethora of chic and trendy pieces, I discovered the essence of my fashionista soul—a blend of simplicity, elegance, and a touch of extravagance.

The Simple Yet Elegant Approach

At my core, I gravitate towards simplicity. There’s something undeniably powerful about a well-tailored pair of jeans paired with a classic white tee. It’s a canvas waiting to be adorned with accessories that tell my story. I believe that fashion should enhance, not overshadow, who you are. This philosophy manifests in my love for minimalist designs that let my personality shine through.

The Power of Accessories

While my core style may lean towards simplicity, I can’t resist the allure of accessories. They are the cherry on top of any outfit, allowing me to express my mood and creativity. I love experimenting with statement pieces that can elevate a simple outfit to something extraordinary. A vibrant handbag or a pair of bold, chunky heels can transform a classic look into something memorable.

Accessories also hold a special place in my heart because they often carry sentimental value. Many of my favorite pieces have been passed down from my mother or grandmother, serving as tangible connections to my roots. Wearing them not only honors my family history but also adds a unique touch to my overall aesthetic.

A Touch of Extravagance

While simplicity is my foundation, I believe in embracing moments of extravagance. Life is too short to play it safe all the time! Whether it’s donning a stunning maxi dress with intricate patterns for a special occasion or adding a bold lipstick to my makeup routine, I relish those moments when I can step outside my comfort zone.

Extravagance doesn’t always mean opulence; it can be as simple as incorporating.

With every outfit I put together, I aim to remind not just myself, but others, that fashion is a powerful tool for storytelling. It’s about finding pieces that resonate with your essence and embracing the elegance of simplicity while celebrating those moments of extravagant flair. So, as I step into this fall season with a renewed focus on my business and my personal style, I pose the question to you:

Who are you at your core as a fashionista? Embrace your journey, express your unique identity, and let your wardrobe be a reflection of the beautiful story you have to tell.
